Spring Trip 2017 Intent Form

Last week all students were give the attached form that must be signed and returned to Mr. Hall no later than August 31st! The number count of band students/parents must be finalized ASAP to begin inviting fellow BTW students to fill the final spots on the trip. Don't forget that the next payment, as listed on the payment schedule with Music Travel Consultants, is September 1st. If you have questions please see Mr. Hall, or contact Chris Forseyth with Music Travel Consultants. PLEASE DETACH THE LOWER PORTION OF THE FORM AND RETURNED SIGNED TO MR. HALL. THIS FORM IS FOR BOTH STUDENTS THAT WILL BE ATTENDING AND THOSE STUDENTS WHO WILL NOT BE ATTENDING.

Last call for Washington DC registrations

This is our last push to ask students and their families to register for next years' Washington D.C trip. We have asked to have atlas 50 individuals signed up prior to May 30th in order for us to keep the trip open as an option for next year.  Registration does not ask for money up front, rather it registers you as interested in attending the trip.  Travelers have the option to cancel up until January to receive a refund of their payments, but we must have atlas 50 to move forward.

Don't forget that we will be offering fund raising opportunities for all students, and anybody is welcomed to fund raise on their own to help off set the cost of the trip.  The more individuals we take, the cheaper it makes the trip for everybody.

Again, we need everybody that is interested to go online and register at music-travel.com.

Spring Trip Info 2017

If you were unable to attend our trip info meeting we are going to be adding necessary info to the blog as soon as possible.

If you are interested in going (student, parent, sibling, etc.)  go ahead and register on the website.  There is no money due at registration, but this will give you access to the itinerary and other important info.  The deposit for the trip will be asked for around June 1st, but please go ahead and register.  You can register multiple travelers on the same account.

WHEN YOU SET UP YOUR ACCOUNT MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER FOR TRIP : 1703-3-74 or it will not show up on our BTW trip account.

Trills and Thrills 2016

Congrats to both concert band and show band on receiving all superior ratings at the Trills and Thrills music festival in Atlanta, Ga.  We had great performances and a ton of fun at Six Flags.

All-State Band 2016

Trills and Thrills Health Info!

All students attending the Trills and Thrills trip on April 23^rd are required to have a health form on file prior to the trip.  This year’s health form will be filled out online through the provided website.

So happy for Concert band Senior, Erin; on being named as the first in BTW history to have a basketball player be named an all-state player.  An all-state musician and an all-state athlete.  Truly excellent in all things!!! Trills and Thrills Final Payment

Our Spring trip is quickly approaching which means we must finalize our finical obligations to the Trills and Thrills company.  As usual, if you have any finical concerns for the final payment please contact me ASAP.

Our final payment for all students, parents, and guests is Wednesday, March 16th.   

We must have our final numbers set with the company prior to leaving for Spring Break, therefore if a student/parent has not paid for their trip, their name will be removed from our list (unless they have spoken directly to Mr. Darby or Mr. Hall to make special finical arrangements).

Concert Band Students in Spirit Attire Tomorrow

All students that attended MPA this week are receiving a special Spirit Day Friday tomorrow at school. Only those concert band and selected show band students may be out of uniform in spirit attire for tomorrow. Congratulations again on your amazing performance this week.

Don't forget your party items tomorrow as well.

Superior Performance!

Congrats to this years concert band on receiving a Superior rating at the 2016 MPA. 

MPA Week!

Don't forget this week is our MPA performance.  We will have after school rehearsal tomorrow as our final run through.  

If you haven't done so, please make sure your dress/tux is looking performance ready.   

Students are responsible to talk to their 3rd and 4th block teachers to make sure they are aware of any assignments that will be missed and when they can be made up. 

We will leave for the church after 1st wave lunch on Tuesday and students will be picked up at First Baptist Church around 3:30. Those students who drive will be able to leave after sight reading. 

Parents may attend our performance for free at 2:30 in the main sanctuary.  Performance will last approximately 20 minutes. 

Special MPA rehearsals!

Don't forget that our Concert band members (and a few fellow Show Band members) will have a few special pre-MPA rehearsals after school this week and next.  Rehearsals will begin at 3:30PM and end promptly at 4:30PM.  Parents; please try to pick up students as close to 4:30 as possible. We have had some after school rehearsals that have kept students and directors at the school till close to 6:00 waiting on pick up.

This weeks rehearsals will be on Tuesday March 1st and Thursday March 3rd.  Next week we will meet on Monday March 7th.

We will have special guest judges this week so please be prepared to play your best and receive critique from our judges.

We perform at MPA (First Baptist Church, S Perry St.) on Tuesday March 8th at 2:30PM in the main sanctuary.  Parents can attend the MPA performance if they would like.

*We will be finished with our sight reading by 3:30PM*

After school practice cancelled

Due to the impending weather we have cancelled after school rehearsal for today.  Please coordinate transportation for this schedule change. 

BTW/FAME Art and Sole 5K and Fun Run

We want to remind everybody about the upcoming 5K and Fun run being hosted by BTW and FAME.  The event is being held on Saturday March 5th and we still want to see more participants.  Whether you choose to run, walk, skip, or jump; everybody can participate and help support the amazing programs at BTW.  Please share this flyer with your friends, family, work, church, etc.

Reminders for this Week!

Parents and Students,

Just a few reminders for this week:

- Only Seniors will be counted as an excused absence for attending the Basketball Game tomorrow morning at ASU.  If you do attend, you must be back at BTW on or before 12:00pm and you will need your ticket stub to be considered excused absence.  *Boys Basketball team will be excused and traveling with the girls as well.

-Tomorrow is the due date for MPA Permission forms.

-Tomorrow is the due date for Trills and Thrills (Atlanta, GA) trip permission forms as well as the $50 deposit for the trip.  *A $50 deposit is required for every person attending the trip.  If you have concerns for financial reasons please talk to Mr. Darby and Mr. Hall.

-Tomorrow the Concert band will have after school rehearsal to prepare for MPA.  *Tennis team students have been permitted to miss due to their Tennis match.

*If you know of any parents/students who are planning to apply for BTW or any of the magnet schools, remind them that the deadline for applications to be received is this Friday!!!!

MPA (Music Performance Assessment)

Music Performance Assessment (MPA) - 3/8/16

This years MPA will be held at First Baptist Church on South Perry Street.

BTW Magnet will leave from BTW after 1^st wave lunch to head to the church to be able to watch some of the performances before our warm up time.  Students who drove to school that day will drive their vehicles to First Baptist. Students who do not drive will ride an MPS school bus to drop us off at the church.  After we finish performing students who drove to the church will be dismissed as this will be the end of the school day. 

Those students who would typically be picked up at the school can be picked up at First Baptist Church.  We will be done no later than 3:30PM.

*Students who typically ride home on the bus will need to make plans to be picked up at the church.  We will not be able to have an MPS bus return us to the school, because they will all be operating their normal routes at that time. *

Warm up time: 2:00PM

Performance time: 2:30PM

Sight Reading: 3:00PM

Parents are allowed to come for the MPA performance in the main sanctuary if they would like to attend. 

*Attached is a copy of the permission form incase it didn't make it all the way home to get signed. Forms are due back to Mr. Darby by 2/23/16.
